In the course of the weekend I spend 8 hours assebmling the QMX Kit I bought from Hans Summer on HamRadio Fridrichshavenn.
Assembly worked fine.
First power up with limited current of 250mA revealed a shortcut on the power supply board. It’s a documented issue that could be fixed with hot air and a sight shift of the big FET.
Unfortunately, I’ve assembled the kit based on Rev 1 of the manual, and I wound the transformer as specified. There is a update for improved sensitivity on 20m. I need to redo that.
Next step is to put in on the bench in my QRL and look at the power output, spurious emissions, harmonics and the sensitivity.
